ABOUT THE CREDENTIAL

TDP is our management-level certification.

The Travel DEI Practitioner (TDP) program is a professional development course for individuals in management roles in travel industry organizations. It is based on Travel Unity’s DEI Standards for Travel & Tourism and can help your organization get on the road to being Certified by Travel Unity.


In the TDP program, you will:

  • learn more about operational diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) alongside colleagues from across the travel industry
  • create a plan for applied DEI within your department

Upon completion of the program, you can use "TDP" after your name, signaling your expertise in DEI to employers and colleagues.

TDP Eligibility

TDP is designed for travel professionals in management-level roles.


To be considered for TDP, applicants must either: 

  1. demonstrate that they are currently in (or have previously been in) a management-level role in the travel industry
  2. submit a message of endorsement on organizational letterhead from a manager from their organization


The letter must state that the organization will review the participant’s recommendations.

Program Structure



  • Live (virtual or in-person) sessions with colleagues, along with accompanying module videos


  • Homework Assignments:
  • Written reflections from the videos and assigned exercises
  • Questions to consider in between discussions
  • Discussions with colleagues, mentors, and mentees/junior staff
  • Surveys to complete around the topics discussed


  • Creating a final report to apply the learnings within your role and department

Applied DEI Report & Presentation

To receive TDP designation, participants need to complete a report on how they will implement DEI best practices within their department

  • What are actionable steps that you can take around DEI in the next three months?
  • Provide an example of an SOP from your department that includes DEI
  • What does your organization do really well around DEI?
  • What can your organization improve on when it comes to its DEI efforts?



After three months

  • Call or written submission
  • Report back on the steps from your original submission.
  • Share reflections on DEI that you’ve had since your TDP sessions
