Travel Unity Individual Pledge

Why Take The Pledge?

Travel is better when everyone feels welcome.

The Travel Unity Individual Pledge is a simple commitment to listen, learn, own mistakes, and speak up when people are being left out.

It is not about being perfect. It is about staying open, paying attention, and doing your part to make travel better for people of all backgrounds and abilities.

Signatories have shared the following as to why this pledge is important to them:

Because I want to keep reminding myself to do better and be accepting of others.

I’ve been observing, and then trying to impact positively on DEI issues for my entire career. As a society we all do better when diverse minds, viewpoints and experience backgrounds are brought to bear on any problem a planet, nation, community, family or individual wants to resolve. Ubuntu: I am, because we are.

I recognize that the only way to truly live up to my values and help create a more equitable and inclusive travel experience in my destination and beyond is to recognize and validate the experiences of others, and use my privilege and advantages to bring awareness and change to the challenges that others face.
